What are the color enhancing ingredients?

This product contains Erythrulose and Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Although DHA is found in common sunless tanners, Erythrulose is not typically found in common sunless tanners. Erythrulose is used in prestige department store brand facial sunless tanning products. Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer contains a combination of DHA and Erythrulose to provide more natural-looking skin color than common sunless tanners which typically contain only DHA.

How do the color enhancing ingredients work?

Our Research has optimized the combination of Erythrulose and DHA, so that they work together to subtly enhance and gradually deepen your natural skin color. Both Erythrulose and DHA provide deeper skin color through chemical reactions, called the Maillard Reaction. However, they deepen skin color at different rates of change and to different skin colorations. Both ingredients are safe for consumers for topical use.

What are Collagen and Elastin?

The portions of the skin which give skin its structure are made up primarily of the proteins Collagen and Elastin. Collagen gives skin strength, and Elastin gives skin elasticity. Over time as skin ages, the amount of both Collagen and Elastin diminish causing a loss of skin firmness.

Will the color be natural on my skin?

For best results you should apply Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer everyday — a gradual, natural-looking color will result after about 1 week of continued use. If desired, a darker formula can be tried, but the results may not be as natural looking. Or, if you are looking for a faster way to get natural-looking color, try Jergens® natural glow express Body Moisturizer. You will see color after one day and more than a full shade in just 3 days.

What happens if I stop using the product? How long will the color stay on my skin?

If you stop using Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer, your skin color will begin to fade in a few days and be completely faded after about one to two weeks.

Why does the color on my face sometimes not match the color on my body?

The difference in color is a result of a variety of factors. To start, facial skin can be thinner than body skin, can exfoliate at a different rate, and is exposed to different environmental conditions than body skin. Because of this, the Face products have been formulated to match facial skin tones. We use a different blend of our skin-darkening ingredients for the Face products than the Body products to give you a healthy natural-looking summer glow from head to toe.

How long before I see results with Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer?

Which formula should I choose?

Using the formula customized for your natural skin tone will ensure the most natural-looking color. To find your natural skin tone, look at the inside (or underside) of your forearms, since these areas are not typically exposed to the sun.

Refer to the color charts on the back of the packages and choose the one with a "STARTING POINT" color that most closely matches your natural skin tone.

Another way to choose your formula is to refer to your favorite facial foundation color.

If you typically use foundation colors that are fair or (light) medium (for example: Light Ivory, Ivory, Porcelain, Alabaster, Light Beige, Nude), then choose the Jergens® natural glow Firming Fair to Medium Skin Tones formula.

If you typically use foundation colors that are (darker) medium or tan (for example: Medium Beige, Tan, Caramel), then choose the Jergens® natural glow Firming Medium to Tan Skin Tones formula.

Will I eventually have to change to a darker shade?

No. Some people have switched to a darker shade with good results after first using a light shade formula. To find the right formula, make sure you're choosing your shade based on your natural skin tone or starting skin tone and the starting shade on the back of the package.

How long should I wait before I get dressed?

After applying Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer, allow several minutes for it to dry prior to getting dressed. This will prevent any lotion from rubbing off on clothes and ensure even coverage on the skin.

Can I use another moisturizer with this product?

You may use another lotion with this product; for example, choose Jergens® Ultra Healing® or Jergens® Shea Butter Moisturizer. You may mix-and-match Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer with any Jergens® Skincare products. If using two moisturizers at the same time, apply Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer first and allow it to dry completely.

How can I prevent the elbows and knees from becoming darker than the rest of my skin?

The skin on elbows and knees tends to be drier, with more layers of skin cells. Since the chemical reactions of skin darkening take place in the surface layers of skin, the color can concentrate in those areas. We suggest that elbows & knees receive a light application of Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer or try using Jergens® Shea Butter or Jergens® Ultra Healing® Moisturizer on the "roughest parts" like knees and elbows first, to smooth the skin.

Can I use different skin tone formulas for my body and face?

Yes, you may use different skin tone formulas for your body and face if you feel using different formulas will provide the best matches for the skin tones of your body and face.

Can I use a sunscreen with this product?

Of course, just apply it after you use Jergens® natural glow Body or Face Moisturizers. Jergens® natural glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer, Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer, Jergens® natural glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer and Jergens® natural glow express Body Moisturizer don't contain sunscreen and they don't protect against sunburn. However, Jergens® natural glow Healthy Complexion Daily Facial Moisturizer is designed to shield skin from daily sun exposure while delivering an optimum amount of naturally glowing color. And remember that repeated exposure of unprotected skin while tanning may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.

I am not seeing any skin color change, am I doing something wrong?

This is likely from overuse of the product. Try using a lighter shade formula or use less of the product. You may be able to use it every other day instead of daily.

Will I get too dark? Will the color be even?

After one week of daily use, your skin should be about one shade darker. Continue to use the product daily or every other day, so that the color will be maintained and skin tone will remain even. Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer gradually darkens only the very top layers of your skin. And since the top layers of skin cells naturally exfoliate to expose new skin cells, your skin color will naturally reach a plateau. Regular use of Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer ensures evenness of skin color.

You may find that you should go one shade lighter in the winter or use the shade you normally use in the summer every other day instead of every day. Using the formula customized for your natural skin tone will ensure the most natural-looking color. Should I wash my hands after I apply it? How do I remove stains from my skin?

You should wash your hands to prevent unwanted color on your palms or potential stains on clothes. If you do have unwanted color on your skin, it will wear off in a few days and a body or facial scrub may also be used.

Is this safe to use?

There are no safety concerns besides those associated with typical lotions. The product is intended for external use only. Avoid eye contact. If eye contact occurs, flush thoroughly with water. Do not apply to broken skin. This product does not contain sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin while tanning may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.

Can I use this in a tanning bed?

We do not recommend using tanning beds in general. We did not test this moisturizer during tanning bed use so we recommend that you do not use it while using the bed.

I notice an odor on my skin from this product? What causes this?

As the product works to darken the skin, some people may develop an unfamiliar smell on their skin. This smell is a part of the skin darkening process. Some people have told us that it smells like they have spent a day at the beach, and their skin smells warm and toasty. The fragrance in Jergens® natural glow Moisturizers masks the smell for many of the consumers we tested on, but unfortunately, the smell is different from person to person and for a small group of consumers, they still find the smell comes through the fragrance.

I am an African American with caramel tones. Will this even out my skin tone?

Although the Jergens® natural glow Body Moisturizers do not have expiration dates, the products are best if used within 12 months of opening.

Jergens® natural glow Healthy Complexion Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 20 expires 36 months after the date of manufacture. The product is labeled with an expiration date and offers maximum protection when used before this date. This product is also best if used within 12 months of opening.

Choosing the right shade.

Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer is available in two shades – FAIR/MEDIUM and MEDIUM/TAN – designed to work with your skin tone and help you achieve a natural-looking summer glow.

If you're unsure which shade is right for you, use the inside of your forearm as a guide and match your skin tone to the chart on the back of the product tube. Product shade decision should be based on your natural skin tone.

Preparing your skin.

•

For best results exfoliate before your first use using an exfoliator that is not oil based. This helps to slough off any dead skin and will help to ensure natural even color. Oil based exfoliators will inhibit color development.

•

Always apply to freshly cleansed skin. This will help the moisturizer to fully absorb into the skin and ensure natural-looking summer color.

How to apply Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer.

•

Smooth on evenly and thoroughly just as you would with any daily moisturizer.

•

Use sparingly on knuckles, knees, ankles and in between fingers and toes as these areas are dry and will absorb more of the product.

•

For a natural look on the back of hands and top of feet, gently feather the product toward fingers and toes.

•

To get that natural look, apply the product to the tops of your arms and then blend around to the underarms.

•

Rinse excess residue from the palms of hands, between fingers and around nails.

•

Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizers provide superb daily moisturization, and as with any moisturizer, allow drying for several minutes before you dress.

Avoid getting wet for at least three hours after using Jergens® natural glow Moisturizers.

What to expect.

Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizers work gradually with your skin chemistry to deliver unique results. Allow 3 to 10 days for the color to develop into a healthy summer glow.

Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizers do not contain SPF but can be used with your sunscreen, cosmetics and other moisturizers. Apply Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizers first and then apply your other products.

•

Before exercising, swimming and showering allow 4 hours for optimal product performance.

•

Some experience an unfamiliar scent. This scent is your cue that the product is working. To mask the scent, add Jergens® Original Scent Cherry-Almond Moisturizer to your daily routine.

•

An off-color tone may indicate that you are using too much of the product. Try using the product every 2 to 3 days instead of daily or switch to a lighter shade.

Maintaining your skin glow.

•

Use Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizers on a daily basis to get a full shade of natural-looking summer color.

•

When you have reached your optimal shade you can continue using or use every other day to maintain your color.

•

The formula darkens the top layers of your skin so daily use will deliver a natural, uniform color and tone.

•

Skin color will fade over time if you stop using the product regularly because of your body's natural skin exfoliation. Your skin tone will return to its natural state in about 2 weeks.

•

If you have any unwanted color on your skin, it will wear off in a few days or you can use a body or facial scrub to help remove it.

•

If drier, rougher elbows, knees and heels darken beyond your desired color, apply a regular lotion such as Jergens® Ultra Healing® Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer on those areas.
